Jean McGloin
Professor, University of Maryland
Former Editor at Journal of Research in Crime and Delinquency
This workshop will focus on critical aspects of peer review publishing [1], hoping to reduce the vagueness, mystery, and rumors that often plague this process. Importantly, this will be a confidential space where students should feel comfortable asking direct questions, with the expectation that Professor McGloin will offer her honest opinions and experiences both as an author and editor.
The workshop will contain 2 meetings (of 2-3 hours) in April 2025. The sessions will be informal and aim to support discussion that is directly relevant to PhD students. No preparation is needed.
Session Topics:
The workshops will be held at NSCR (VU campus Amsterdam, Initium building).
These sessions are designed to be in-person to facilitate interaction and engagement. However, if attending in person is absolutely not possible for you, online participation may be considered in exceptional cases. Please contact the organizers at phdcouncil@nscr.nl to discuss your situation.
One ECT can be granted for attending the full workshop (both sessions).
You can register by filling out this form: Registration Publishing Landscape in Criminology
[1] This workshop will have a different set-up and contents than the workshop taught last year by Wim Bernasco. So even if you have attended Wim’s workshop, we made sure that this workshop has something new to offer.
