Introduction

This privacy statement is specifically intended for visitors to the website of the Netherlands Institute for the Study of Crime and Law Enforcement (NSCR), www.nscr.nl. The NSCR is part of the Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research Institutes (NWO-I). The NSCR aims to handle the personal data of everyone who visits the website with care. Who is responsible?

The NSCR is responsible for processing the personal data of visitors to the website. This means that the NSCR determines the purpose of the processing and the means used for this processing.

At www.nscr.nl, we generally do not collect personal data. We do not place cookies when you visit our website, unless, for example, you listen to a podcast via a specific NSCR webpage. These files store information that may be useful during a subsequent visit to the website, such as language preferences or login details.

Your Email Address for the Newsletter

You can sign up for the NSCR’s monthly newsletter via this website. We use your email address solely to send you our newsletter, for which you have given consent upon signing up. We store your email address on our mailing list, which is stored in the Netherlands. Once you unsubscribe, we remove your email address from our mailing list. You can unsubscribe via the link at the bottom of each newsletter.

How Can You Exercise Your Privacy Rights?

Under the GDPR, you have several rights regarding the personal data we process about you. These rights are known as data subject rights.

You have the right to access an overview of your personal data and, under certain conditions, to rectify and/or delete personal data. In certain cases, you also have the right to restrict the processing of your personal data, the right to object to the processing, and the right to data portability.

You can exercise these rights by sending a request to privacy@nscr.nl. When you submit a request, we want to be sure that it is really you. To verify your identity, we may ask you some additional questions. Your request will be processed as quickly as possible, and at the latest within one month.

Where Can You File a Complaint?

If you are dissatisfied with how the NSCR processes your personal data, you can file a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens). You can also contact the Data Protection Officer to ask a question or file a complaint. This can be done via fg@nwo.nl.
