Why are Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion important?
Diversity in the workplace supports higher productivity and brings broader perspectives, while equity and inclusion contribute to a positive work environment where people feel safe, valued, and heard. Together, DEI encourages the exchange of ideas, reduces tunnel vision, and supports better decision-making. Investing in DEI also leads to tangible organizational benefits, such as reduced attrition and absenteeism, faster and more cost-effective recruitment, and positive contributions to overall performance. What’s not to like?
Vision of NSCR on DEI
The NSCR has the mission to conduct excellent and fundamental science that drives and simultaneously impacts society. Part of this is promoting an inclusive science culture with an eye for diversity. Diversity in the composition of the staff fosters a variety of arguments and leads to inspiration, creativity, and innovation. The added value is seen in the joint effort of people with different expertise and a diversity of backgrounds and perspectives.
As an organization NSCR aims to structurally create and ensure the conditions for an inclusive culture, in such a way that employees can develop and utilize different talents. The management and MT endorse the objectives of this plan and will strive for proper implementation.
