{"id":3653,"date":"2017-01-25T18:01:42","date_gmt":"2017-01-25T18:01:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.nscr.nl\/en\/?p=4985"},"modified":"2017-01-25T18:01:42","modified_gmt":"2017-01-25T18:01:42","slug":"conferentie-globalisation-fisheries-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nscr.nl\/en\/conferentie-globalisation-fisheries-2\/","title":{"rendered":"February 3-5 2017 &#124; Conference Globalisation of Fisheries"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>February 3-5 2017 | Texel | The Netherlands<\/strong><br \/>\nThe Netherlands Institute for the Study of Crime and Law Enforcement (NSCR) and the Royal Netherlands Institute for Sea Research (NIOZ) are organising a two day <strong>international conference<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nioz.nl\/illegalfishing\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Globalisation of fisheries: the prevalence, actors, ecological impact and regulation of illegal fishing<\/a> to discuss current issues regarding the globalisation of fishing fleets and their impact on rich marine ecosystems. We aim to bring the best possible information together, identify current gaps in knowledge, discuss opportunities to improve knowledge, and discuss the ecological and economic impact of illegal fishing.<br \/>\nInvited key note speakers will include Professor <strong>Daniel Pauly<\/strong> (Sea Around Us; Institute for the Oceans and Fisheries &amp; Department of Zoology, Vancouver, BC), Professor <strong>Ronald V. Clarke<\/strong> (Rutgers School of Criminal Justice, New Jersey, USA), Professor <strong>Wim Huisman<\/strong> (Criminal Law and Criminology, VU University Amsterdam), several other prominent scientists and representatives from the EU Long Distance Advisory Council (LDAC).<br \/>\n<strong>Submissions<\/strong><br \/>\nWe invite those interested in presenting a poster or plenary presentation to submit a title and abstract (150 words) to alemieux@nscr.nl before 1 January 2017.<br \/>\n<strong>Proceedings<\/strong><br \/>\nProceedings will be published as a special issue or a special section in the ICES Journal of Marine Science and we encourage contributors to submit their papers (subject to a peer review) straight after the conference.<br \/>\n<strong>Registration<\/strong><br \/>\nThe conference is open for registration from 15 Nov 2016 for all presenters as well as those who wish to attend the sessions.
