This privacy statement is specifically intended for job applicants at the Netherlands Institute for the Study of Crime and Law Enforcement (NSCR). The NSCR is part of the Netherlands Foundation of Scientific Research Institutes (NWO-I). The NSCR is committed to handling the personal data of all applicants with care. The privacy rules set out in the General Data Protection Regulation<\/a> (GDPR) are of crucial importance.<\/p>\n In this privacy statement, we describe who we are, how and for what purposes we process your personal data, how you can exercise your privacy rights, and any other information that may be relevant. We aim to make the information in this statement as clear and readable as possible. If you have questions about the processing of your personal data after reading this privacy statement, you can contact us using the contact details provided at the bottom of this statement.<\/p>\n The NSCR is responsible for the processing of personal data when you apply for a position at the NSCR. This means that the NSCR determines the purpose of the processing and the means used for it.<\/p>\n The NSCR processes your personal data if:<\/p>\n The NSCR processes your personal data to enable us to recruit new employees. We require the data you provide to determine your suitability for the position and your eligibility for employment with us. In doing so, we assess whether you meet the requirements associated with the role. Additionally, we ask you to share your diplomas and\/or references with us during the application process.<\/p>\n If the application process is successful and the NSCR offers you a position, your data will be used to prepare a job offer. Should you accept the offer, we will use the same data to draft the employment contract. If you are engaged via an external (secondment) agency or as an independent contractor (ZZP\u2019er), we will not draw up an employment contract, but rather a contract for services or a temporary agency work agreement.<\/p>\n During the application process, we maintain contact with you, for example, regarding job interviews and other scheduled appointments, and answer any questions you may have. Through Ubeeo, the NSCR posts vacancies and you can apply for them, we also use the platform to schedule interviews and other appointments. You can track the progress of your application in the portal, where you can also view, edit, or delete your personal details. Additionally, you can activate a \u2018Vacancy Alert\u2019 to receive email notifications about new job openings at the NSCR.<\/p>\n Only staff members involved in the recruitment process have access to the data in Ubeeo. Data is retained in Ubeeo for either 28 days after the process concludes or 12 months after the application is submitted, a timeframe you can select yourself when applying. If you are also considered suitable for a different vacancy or department at the NSCR, you will be introduced to that department via Ubeeo. Only NSCR employees for whom access is necessary in the performance of their duties have access to your personal data.<\/p>\n The NSCR may engage other organizations to process personal data on its behalf, these are referred to as \u2018processors\u2019. The NSCR enters into clear agreements with these processors, formalized in a data processing agreement, to ensure that they handle the personal data confidentially and with due care.<\/p>\n We may only process personal data if there is a valid reason and a legal basis for doing so. The GDPR outlines various bases for processing; these are also referred to as legal grounds. Processing personal data for recruitment, selection, communication, and the offering of a contract may be based on the NSCR\u2019s legitimate interest. The NSCR has a legitimate interest in processing your personal data in order to conduct the application process and hire new staff. Processing your personal data is necessary for this purpose. We do not process more personal data than is required for the aforementioned purposes.<\/p>\n If you are offered a contract, your data is processed based on the pre-contractual phase of the agreement. We require this data to draft the contract with you.<\/p>\n The NSCR retains your personal data during and shortly after the recruitment and selection process. If you are not hired following your application, your personal data will be deleted or anonymized no later than 28 days after the conclusion of the application process. We may also retain your data for 12 months after your application, but only if you explicitly choose this option when applying. This allows us to contact you later should a suitable vacancy arise or to forward your details.<\/p>\n Under the GDPR, you have various rights regarding the personal data we process about you. These rights are known as data subject rights.<\/p>\n If you have given your consent for the processing of your personal data, you may withdraw that consent at any time. In other cases, you have the right to object to the processing.<\/p>\n You can exercise these rights by sending a request to privacy@nscr.nl<\/a>. We will assess each request to determine whether we can grant it. When you submit a request, we need to be certain that it is indeed you making the request; therefore, we may ask you a few additional questions to verify your identity. We will respond to your request as soon as possible, but no later than within one month.<\/p>\n The NSCR treats your personal data confidentially. We have implemented appropriate technical and organizational measures to ensure that your personal data is properly secured. To effectively protect your personal data, the NSCR employs appropriate security technologies; for instance, we devote significant effort to securing the systems that contain personal data. Furthermore, only employees who require access to your personal data to perform their duties are permitted to view it. All our employees have signed a confidentiality agreement.<\/p>\n You can lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority<\/a> (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens) if you are dissatisfied with the processing of your personal data by the NSCR.
